Wyman (Harvard, M.D. 1837) was Hersey Professor of Anatomy at Harvard Medical School from 1847 to 1874 and taught anatomy and physiology in the medical school of Hampden-Sydney College, Richmond, Va., from 1843 to 1847. In 1866 he became curator of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard and went on expeditions to Florida, Labrador, South America, and other places to collect material for the museum.
